The road to recovery can be a lonely journey down a long, winding path. Many of us have been there. Some of us learn life’s lessons while many of us go around the same mountain again.
Motivational speaker and Author Lisa Bien has faced life’s ups and downs with a refreshing attitude and so should you. She is on a mission to share ways to empower yourself to be the best version of you through self-love, acceptance, and personal success.
Its time to get off of the hamster wheel of life and to begin the journey of being the best version of you.
We had the honor and please to chat with Lisa about rebounding from adversity and here is what she had to say:
What are those 1st couple keys to rising out of the ashes?
First, you have to identify what’s not working. You have to be really honest with yourself. Identifying and be clear as to what isn’t working, then how am I going to make it work?
Next, ask for help. It’s ok to ask for help, it doesn’t mean your weak. If you are in a bad spot and don’t know where to begin, you don’t need to know where to begin, go to someone and let them know where you are.
It also depends on the severity of an issue. I, myself, needed a therapist. It was one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever given myself. Sometimes we need a bit of help to keep pushing forward.
How does one curve the bad habit of negative self-talk?
That is a form of abuse. As a society, many of us are fast and furious to come down on ourselves. One of the biggest enemies I found throughout my life was right between my own ears. It was what I was telling myself or letting others tell me about myself.
Mindfulness is very important, so listen to the things that are going on in your mind.
When you hear you talking negatively about you, remind yourself that you are your own best friend. Building self-esteem is hard work, it isn’t an easy journey. It is an everyday thing until you believe it. It has to become second nature to love yourself!
We hear the word self-love often, how important is the “self” side of things?
Being clear about who you are is the most valuable way to spend your time. Go on a journey of self-love.
This is how I got to know who Lisa was and what my values are. Take stock of your life and who you are.
Is positive thinking when you’re rebounding?
It’s critical. Positive thinking is the key ingredient to turning your thought process around.
Adversity is designed to be our greatest teacher. When you are bouncing back from adversity you have to be grateful, appreciative and positive. The more you embrace what you have the more of a positive attitude you will have.
Look for the lessons in everything.
Its all about how you look at life. I choose to think positively.
Yes. It is not easy to remember that there is greatness inside each of us. Especially if you are struggling to gain traction in life. Thanks for the reminder, Lisa!
