We’ve all had a few (maybe many) of those mornings where we plop down in our chair and instantly feel overwhelmed by our cluttered Inbox and packed to-do list.

While mornings like these are common for many, with a few morning productivity hacks, you can take AM action that will set you up for productivity and efficiently the rest of the day.

Check out these 6 morning productivity hacks to start your day off right!

Quick & Easy Workout

A morning workout is great for getting the blood flowing and pumping you up for the day ahead with a blast of endorphins. The workout doesn’t need to be long – even a quick exercise routine for 7 to 12 minutes will loosen you up and get you engaged for the day ahead.

Mindful Meditation

Just 20 minutes of focused, mindful meditation at the start of the morning can center your energy and provide lasting benefits.

Meditation clears the mind, allowing you to focus on what’s most important and let go of the stresses and anxieties that pile up on us. Ditching those heavy weights on our mind allows us to better engage with important tasks and carry a more positive attitude, which is beneficial in any work setting!

Start The Day With a Protein-Packed Breakfast

Skipping breakfast is a big mistake – breakfast is the meal that fuels the start of your day and gives you the energy to get tasks done.

Not just any breakfast will do – go with a hearty, protein-packed breakfast like eggs with sausage or oatmeal with walnuts and raisins.

A solid breakfast can transform your day, and you won’t be doing yourself any favours by skipping it!

Take Breaks & Get Moving!

This is especially important if you work at a desk all day. You need to get up and move, for both your body and your brain. Go for a quick walk around the building, go outside and stretch in the sunshine, or go to the break room for a fresh glass of water and a chat with a co-worker.

When you come back to your desk you’ll feel better physically and mentally. If you have a Fitbit, use the 250+ steps an hour goal to help you get moving.

Keep Meetings Short & Sweet

Most meetings don’t need to be longer than 15 minutes. Maybe 30 minutes if it needs some debate. If you’re in charge of setting meetings, keep them short and to the point.

Even better, make it a stand up meeting so you’re all inclined to get it done even faster. If you want a really fast meeting, get your team to do planks while discussing agendas (trust me, all chitchat will be eliminated pretty fast with the planks)!

Turn off Phone Notifications

Cell phones are an essential part of business these days, but that doesn’t mean they should take over your life! Similar to email, smartphone notifications are constant sources of distraction and greatly upset productivity. Turn off the notifications for as many things as you can – email, retweets, Facebook, even texts – and instead incorporate a phone-check into your hourly email check.
