This past weekend my friend and i decided to watch Dame Dash be interviewed by the Power 105.1 Breakfast Club team DJ Envy, Angela Ye and Charlamane tha God.
Power 105.1 has been on fire lately from intriguing interviews with Kanye West to eye opening conversations with Larry King, but this one is powerful. Media mogul Dame Dash was in rare form as he breaks down the mentality of a true entrepreneur, the mindset of the average worker and the effects both have on your lineage.
My friend did not appreciate how having a job was equated to a form of slavery. I didn’t look at it like that. I saw it as the very reason why there are a minimal amount of black owned business especially at a time where we have 1.1 Trillion dollars in spending power. To get the wisdom out of what he is saying you would have to look/listen to the interview with an open mind. You’d have to look past the brash way he delivers the message. Overlook the language and please excuse his Harlem swag.
If you’ve seen the video, im sure you can point out various trains of thought but here are my top 5 Dame Dash notables.
There is no amount of money in this world someone could pay me for me to call them my boss. Thats like calling somebody daddy.
If you aren’t honorable and playing fair, you better watch out because im protecting love.
9 to 5’s aren’t good because you are hustling for the weekend. But when you do something for your family it never feels like work. I hustle for my last name, i don’t hustle for my first.
Can another man someone tell you you’re fired? No one can tell me that. Thats priceless to me.
In the moment, you don’t know how legendary things are going to be.
